Round 3 - Luke Dobbs & Taka Miyamoto Dobbs

I LOVE these centerpieces. The cherry blossom branches are so simple and delicate, yet very elegant. They remind me very much of Taka. The ballroom at the Omni was the perfect setting for their intimate celebration.
There is something about pink Hydrangeas that are so sweet!
I must also mention the gorgeous cake from Sheila's Cakes. I never get tired of looking at her designs. Wish I could taste them all too!

Luke and Taka - PART 2

I love my job! Just got a few more shots of Luke & Taka from Gretchen Whipple. If you like what you see here, you should check out her blogs. She does Contemporary Portraiture as well as Event Photography and has some great work!

Beautiful dress, beautiful hands, beautiful flowers... Hydrangeas, spray roses and orchids never looked so fantastic. Thanks for the quick preview Gretchen! We can't wait to see Luke & Taka Dobbs in action. You do such an amazing job!

Mazel Tov -- Mr. and Mrs. Lasry!

Awesome. Amazing. Elegant. Breathtaking. Simply Gorgeous. There are not enough words to express the exquisite experience on August 11th at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Second year law student, Rachel Wyzan and graphic designer Michael Lasry were married in the most perfect ceremony imaginable. With a custom-made chuppah and hallway for the Ceremony and gorgeous crystal laden centerpieces for the initimate dinner reception, this wedding was truly magical.

From Wyzan-Lasry Wedding TPC
Thanks to Mara Colon for volunteering to take these shots as we set up. We also had Jen Mosley on hand to capture some great shots as well. I'll have another post with Jen's shots soon!

A HUGE Thank You also to Christine Hoffman, Special Events and Catering Manager at TPC Sawgrass, who was kind enough to forward over a very sweet slideshow. Rachel's photographer, Brian Marcus of Fred Marcus in New York, NY captured some very precious moments behind the scenes and we look forward to sharing them with you.

CUPCAKES ANYONE?!?!? ooohhh....

Did you know that Vanilla Cupcakery has a new name? I spoke with Alex yesterday and not only is the tasty treatery celebrating the opening of a new store in Julington Creek, but a new name as well! Before you freak out, relax...everything is the same. You can still get your favorites like Boston Cream or Cream Cheese and the same great service that you have come to value. You may remember that we partnered with Alex and his crew during Valentine's Day to offer his sweet treats with our lovely flowers for a luxurious gift package. We were blown away and can't stop talking about them. I
just found an article on a Cupcake Blog about them. Hat's off to you Sivada's Cupcakery! We're glad you are here!

BRIDE Launch party recap

Jacksonville Magazine hosted a launch party last night for the August issue of BRIDE at JAshley and Vue in Historic Avondale. We had a wonderful time and the only thing better than the cupcakes from Vanilla Cupcakery was to see lots of new faces and some familiar old ones. (Ahem, Agnes and Damon!) Agnes Lopez, we had a blast catching up with you and can't wait to see your new work!
It's pretty sweet to have a cocktail party in a boutique. If you haven't done so, I highly recommend it.
We started off at JAshley (run by the lovely Ashley Holt and Dianne Garcia) and after mingling with our favorite Jacksonville Magazine gal, Rachel Hughley, headed over to optical boutique, Vue. This is not your typical optometrist setting! After 10 years in a large practice, Dana Nolan decided to venture out on her own. This hip, mom of three has been in Avondale now for about eight months and her shop is SPECTACULAR! It has a couture feel and is definitely the hottest optical boutique in town! Look for more to come...

Modern Day Wonder Woman -- Molly Lewis-Sasso

It is a real treat to blog today about Molly. Recently her photographer and our friend, Gretchen brought over her shots and I've been so anxious to get them up because they are so striking both in design and photography. The designs we created with Molly will also be featured on our website with a couture collection geared toward modern, career women..think "WONDER WOMAN". Look for the full concept to be launched soon! In the meantime, check out these gorgeous shots that Gretchen got of Molly's flowers.

I'd also like to take a moment to compliment Gretchen on her work. She is a local photographer in Jacksonville, working and living in Murray Hill. She offers contemporary portraiture as well as wedding photography and she is loaded with style. Take a look at her blogs and you'll see what I mean.

Ruby Duvall & Mike Marquez - PART 2

Just got some beautiful shots from Corinna Hoffman Photography of Ruby and Mike's wedding. We blogged about Ruby, back in March on her wedding day, because she and her family made such a lasting impression on us. Not only did we love her venue, Jacksonville Zoo Jaguar Exhibit!!, but the colors were vibrant and the couple was precious. Since we can't get enough of Ruby & Mike, we had to post them...

Wedding in Paradise - Kristyn and Toby Wentz

Kristyn Parent and Toby Wentz were married in a very beautiful secret ceremony a few months ago. In fact, the only reason that we know it was beautiful was because of the photos that we received back from photography Jen Mosley. Kristyn is a hair stylist and until recently was at Ethels on Saint John's Avenue. These days you can find her at Demi's and we highly recommend her services. Congratulations newlyweds!

Don't forget to stop by tonight

Sweet, sweet, sweet...Check this out

from our Cinderella bride! Lesley Connell and Richard Trifeletti were recently married at Riverside Baptist Church with a reception following at The Garden Club. I just got the sweetest testimonial from Lesley and just have to share it. She says,

"As most brides, I was completely overwhelmed with everything that had to be done when planning our May 2009 wedding. We had just over ten months to plan it but it seemed it just wouldn't be enough time! I already knew before Richard proposed who would make my wedding cake. Sheila's, of course! When it came to flowers...I was lost. We had been to at least dozens of florists and just couldn't find anyone we felt comfortable with or trusted enough. I had this particular "vision" and it seemed no one could ease my nerves when it came to capturing it. Enter Kelley.
We had less than two months before the big day and we still had not finalized a florist. My sister in-law (the amazing Jennifer Mosley of J. Mosley Photography) referred me to see Kelley. She told me how creative and detailed she was and I immediately made my consultation. Three hours later, Kelley had completely captured my "vision" and more! She was so creative and interested in every last detail, very reassuring to a panicked bride.
When the big day came, the flowers were more than I ever could have imagined! Everything was fresh, detailed, and absolutely gorgeous. I have had nothing but compliments about the ceremony and reception centerpieces. I've referred all my soon to be married friends to her, she's truly amazing!"
~Lesley Connell-Trifiletti

Thank you so much for your kind words. We loved working with you to create your vision and fell in love with the church, as you said we would! Congratulations again!

"When is he gonna engage me?"

Caitlin Smitley and Christoper Vickers will be married at Riverside Baptist Church in December with a reception following at The Florida Yacht Club. Today, during a consultation at our Ortega location, Caitlin and her family kept us cracking up as she related the very sweet story of getting engaged. Whether talking about their adventures dining at Salt at the Ritz Carlton, a Charlie Brown Christmas tree or how she decided on her wedding date, her effervescence is contagious!

Caitlin will be an absolutely dazzling bride and we are so pleased to be working with you.
As the Smitelys and Vickers join families this winter, you can bet there will be a bright future full of fun, laughter and happiness.

Caitlin, Miss Pam, Chris and Teresa you are absolutely delightful. Welcome to the KBR family!
And ... THANK YOU Jen Moseley Photography for introducing us to our new friends!

Staff Luncheon at Pastiche

The KBR staff was treated to a lovely luncheon this afternoon at Jacksonville's own, Pastiche. Sitting on the back patio and surrounded by the picturesque gardens, the mood was light as we toasted to our amazing team and all they do. You know you're really in the South when your champage is complemented by quirky appetizers like sweet potato fries with honey mustard and artichoke fritters in parmesan crumbs!
Rosie treated us like royalty and kept our glasses full of ginger peach tea, while we discussed our milestones and ways we can be the best at what we love to do. It has been a certainly been a great year for us and we have been so pleased to share our designs with some truly beautiful brides. So, really, as we encourage each other and recognize the long hours of meticulous work that comes with ev

ent decor and planning, we tip our hats especially to the women (and men) that have given us the opportunity to be a part of something so special.
THANK YOU!

And on that note... we even finished off the afternoon with profiteroles and peach cobbler. Ching!

Beautiful June Wedding - Taka Miyamoto and Luke Dobbs

Today Takako Miyamoto and Luke Dobbs got married! The couple was referred to us by Gretchen Whipple, our good friends at the Omni Hotel and Sheila's Cakes. The ceremony was held at Riverside Presbyterian Church and as we approached, I could see a flash of blue peeking out from around those big beautiful oak trees -- you know the ones. (That's my favorite part of this job.) We spend so much time preparing, designing and planning that when we get a chance to catch a glimpse of everyone in their finery, it totally makes our day.

Taka's bridal party was absolutely lovely and photog Gretchen Whipple captured the girls laughing and hugging before the ceremony. Taka was GORGEOUS, elegant and stunning. Kelley designed a bouquet of beautiful, delicate whites accented by Stephanotis with pearl centers and pale pink orchids for Taka. The girls carried clusters of pale pink hydrangeas wrapped in white satin.

The intimate reception was held at the Omni Hotel in downtown Jacksonville, FL and the ballroom decor consisted of intricate pink cherry blossoms, luscious, pale pink hydrangeas and the dramatic reflection of LED lights in tall, graceful centerpieces. The candy bar was full of colorful sweets that looked gorgeous in the glass apothecary jars and silver scoops. Final touch... the breathtaking cake from Sheila's Cakes. Pretty pale pink cherry blossoms and branches arched over the tiered cake and we know that it tasted even better than it looked!

Our best wishes to you both for a long and very happy life together!

Ruby and Mike's Wedding at the Jacksonville Zoo

Ruby and Mike's wedding was set at the Jacksonville Zoo. This venue was both unique and memorable. Where else can you set up centerpieces and hear jaguars growling and birds chirping? Kudos to you both for choosing such a special place for your most special day! Ruby's bouquet was just as unique. Kelley designed a gorgeous bouquet of hydrangeas and exotic blue orchids. The centerpieces at the Jaguar Exhibit echoed Ruby's bouquet and were striking hydrangea bunches with bright blue orchids climbing antique lanterns. Katrina McCullum and the team of Made of Honor Weddings did a great job setting up the unique table markers that Ruby designed. The turquoise and black linens were the perfect backdrop for the colorful and sentimental evening.

It was a special treat for those of us present, as we looked out at the Trout River and had the fortune to see this beautiful bride as she waited for the ceremony to begin. These are the moments that make us truly happy to be doing the job that we do!

Ruby and Mike, we wish you happiness, good fortune and a very happy and long life together! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the first day of the rest of your lives as a married couple!

Shanna's Wedding at Marsh Landing Country Club

Today we had an amazing time setting up Shanna's wedding at the Marsh Landing Country Club. Although it was quite windy, the weather turned out to be perfect. We created a beautiful custom monogram for Shanna on silk and chiffon using purple petals. The monogram was a fantastic eye-catcher as the guests walked around the fountain and took their seats. Lavendar, orange and red rose petals covered the base of the monogram and added to the romantic, fairy-tale atmosphere that Kelley and Shanna worked together to create. Also, at the entrance, Kelley converted ordinary lightpoles into whimsical, castle-esque flags in Shanna's signature colors, orange and lavendar.

Marsh Landing Country Club turned out to be a picturesque venue for Shanna's wedding. The only competition for the gorgeous backdrop of the Marsh Landing Golf course was the altar piece that Kelley created of delicate draping fabric and colorful flowers.

While both the ceremony decor and reception centerpieces were breathtaking, we were also lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Shanna in her gown as she took her pre-wedding photos with her mom and bridal party! It is always wonderful to see the Bride in action on her very special day.

Shanna, We extend our congratulations to you both and a huge thank-you to your new husband for his service to our country. Best wishes to you both!
